Natural Resources & Outdoor Recreation

About the Program

Step into the outdoors and learn the skills needed to work in — and care for — the natural world. In this course, you’ll build a wide range of abilities, from landscaping and hydroponics to tree care, forestry, water activities, and outdoor survival. Whether you’re interested in a future career in natural resources or simply want to strengthen your outdoor skills, this program combines classroom learning with plenty of hands-on experience.

You’ll work in our greenhouses and hydroponics labs to grow food and study sustainable agriculture. You’ll also practice landscaping techniques that balance beauty and function, and gain experience in tree care, climbing, and safe chainsaw use.

Learning extends well beyond the classroom. You’ll canoe on local waterways, explore Bangor City Forest, and spend time in natural settings where you’ll practice survival skills, fishing, and guiding techniques. Along the way, you’ll learn about ecosystems, conservation, and the responsibilities of outdoor leadership.
