Early College Information for Students and Families

Many programs at UTC offer opportunities for concurrent enrollment early college credits, meaning you can earn college credit for the work you do here at UTC! In some programs, motivated students can combine concurrent enrollment courses with independent early college courses to capitalize on college pathways opportunities.

Please note that beginning with the class of 2027, students will have a lifetime max of 18 free early college credits through the University of Maine System (UMS) and Maine Community College Systems (MCCS) combined. Students who are enrolled in CTE pathway may qualify for and additional 6 free early college credits through the MCCS.

All early college enrollment and free/reduced college credits are determined by the college systems and may change at any time. Please refer to the Early College Resources for the most up-to-date information.

COLLEGE PATHWAYS

College pathways are for students ready to take their program to the next level and go above and beyond the every day curriculum. Students are largely responsible for pursuing their pathway and can access support from their instructor, Mrs. Pelletier, and school counselors.

It should be noted that this is an opportunity available to students, not a guaranteed outcome, and there are costs involved. Please see early college resources and additional pathway tools for more information.

All of the below information (including courses taken) is subject to change at the discretion of the Maine Community College System and University of Maine System.

COLLEGE CERTIFICATE PATHWAYS

Through agreements with Eastern Maine Community College and Washington Community College, students in our Business Leadership and Medical Assisting Programs may pursue a college certificate. While a majority of the courses required for these pathways are taken through the UTC Program, there are college courses that students will need to take through their agreements at their high school, or directly through the college. Please see the Early College Resources to determine credit allowances and costs.

Certificate in Small Business Management

Certificate in Medical Office Technology

COLLEGE ASSOCIATE PATHWAY

Students who wish to challenge themselves may pursue courses to work towards higher credentials. The number of early college courses that each student may take will be determined by the UMS and MCCS. Students may also pursue courses through Husson University's Early College Access Program (ECAP).

Students should check with their desired post-secondary instituation about transferrability of credits.
