As we reflect on another successful Maine State SkillsUSA Conference, we can't help feeling overjoyed. We realize that not all of our students had their desired outcome, but we could not be more proud of every single competitor...for the months of preparation, their focus and determination, their tremendous effort, for the character they displayed through the entire process. These students represented UTC, their sending schools, and themselves with the highest integrity and spirit! We kicked off the Award Ceremony by being named the 2024 Jeff Small Spirit Award recipient for our exceptional school spirit and enthusiasm, and the night just got better from there! Congratulations to our 41 medalists and all competitors on a job well done!

Last Thursday evening at the SkillsUSA Opening Ceremony, we recognized Bangor High School Tech Coordinator and UTC Champion, Mr. Mark Hackett. Mr. Hackett was chosen by the SkillsUSA Maine State Board of Directors as the recipient of the 2024 Cornerstone Award. This award recognizes educational partners who work closely with their local CTE school and support the mission of career and technical education and the SkillsUSA organization. Mr. Hackett has been a fierce advocate for CTE students at Bangor High School and UTC over a long career, and we are incredibly grateful for his partnership! Congratulations Mr. Hackett, this award is well-deserved!

Did you know that UTC has a CTE Exploratory program at Old Town High School? 🎓 Under the guidance of Mr. Aldrich, this program allows 9th & 10th graders to explore different industries, professions, and vocational areas before diving into specific 11th and 12th-grade programs at UTC. 🚀 With plans to continuously grow the CTE Exploratory program in the Region, UTC looks forward to welcoming 9th & 10th graders at Bangor and Central High Schools in the fall! 🌟 💼🔧🔬 #CTEMonth #CareerTechEd #SkillsForLife #UTCinAction #UTC4ME
