
Ben's call time for Extemporaneous Speaking prelims was 10:45am. He entered the prep room to an unknown topic and had 5 minutes to plan out a 3-5 minute speech. The question the judges posed was difficult, but Ben held his own. The immediate feedback was that his speech was authentic, a great thing to hear! He too will await today's results to determine whether he competes in finals tomorrow. Yay Ben!


This morning Tyler had to report for his interview portion on his competition. He will go back this afternoon for familiarization, where they will walk around the competition area and get a peak at what they will be working on tomorrow.


Kevin has reported for his Prepared Speech preliminary. We are waiting for him to be called in. He will also have to wait for today's results to determine if he competes in the finals tomorrow.


Jasmine's Preliminary Job Interview was scheduled for 9:15am. She totally rocked it! Now we wait for the preliminary results to see if she gets a call back for finals. Great job Jasmine!


Grayson and Tim reported to their onsite activity at 9:00am. They will be working on a surprise project to accompany the film that they submitted ahead of the conference. Go digital cinema!



Lucien and Rivlin also had to report to their competition area for 8:30. They'll spend the morning setting up and being interviewed. After lunch they will have their game judged. Go team!


Matt's call time was 8:30am. After being escorted to the competition area, competitors were given the plans for the day and time to make calculations for the conduit bending portion. Go Matt!



Brendan is up! 7:30am call time for his Plumbing Competition, and he's front and center. He'll be zoned in until 4:15pm. Go Brendan!

Today was a busy day of orientations, student sessions, and exploring the convention center! We have our bearings and we are ready to start competitions tomorrow. 🇺🇸








We made it! 🥳 All 15 of us touched down in Atlanta at 10:35pm.🛬(12 hours later than schedule, but we made it!) Arrived to the hotel just before midnight 🕛, got pizza delivered 🍕, and prepped everyone for a day filled with orientations tomorrow. Now it's time for some rest. 🥱😴

Today's Skills Spotlight is Caleb Kahl. Caleb competed in Heavy Equipment Operations and won a Silver Medal. He's definitely got some major excavator skills! Congrats Caleb!

On Tuesday, June 18th, the Greater Bangor Apartment Owners and Managers Association - GBAOMA awarded six UTC graduates with toolships. Each of the students received tools specific to their industry that will help them start out in their trade. Each student is currently employed in their respective technical fields, and many of them will be obtaining higher education at EMCC this fall. Thank you to GBAOMA for supporting our students as they set out to fill invaluable positions within the Electrical, Plumbing/Heating, and Carpentry fields.

Today's Skills Spotlight is Nathaneal Jordan. Nathaneal won Silver in the Electrical Knowledge Test competition. Taking a test is always nerve wracking but imagine doing it with a medal on the line. Congrats Nathan!

Today's Skills Spotlight is Caisley Foster. She comes from our Business program and competed in Employment Application Process. Talk about a useful real world experience!
" It makes me not worry so much about going into an interview or meeting with someone in general, especially when I don't know the person. The preparation for it helped me know how to answer questions that I struggled with in the beginning, but now help me feel confident enough that I can answer anything!

Today's Skills Spotlight is Bohdi Ellis. He took home the Gold in Heavy Equipment Operations. Imagine having to move an egg with a excavator! That's one of the tasks he excelled at. Congrats Bohdi.

Today's Skills Spotlight is Emma Sirois from our Health Occupations class. Emma took home a Silver medal in one of the Job Skill Demonstration competitions. Congrats Emma!

Today's Skills Spotlight is yet another Gold Medal winner! Congrats to Matt Brawn who is in our Electrical program and took home the Gold in Electrical Construction Wiring. He'll be headed to nationals in Atlanta next week!
