We can say, without a doubt, that our UTC students embraced the ‘No Limits’ mindset this past week, and in the weeks leading up to the SkillsUSA National Conference. Going head-to-head with the best of the best in the country is no small challenge. Whether they walk the National stage, or the result is not quite what they hoped for, the lessons learned through this experience are invaluable. Their preparation, commitment, and persistence is a testament to the dedication that they have in their chosen trade and is also a reflection of their outstanding character. This week certainly was not without its challenges, disappointment, and triumph. Through it all, our crew has represented their communities, our school, and the State of Maine well. We consider it an honor and a privilege to work with these fine individuals. What a great week! We are so proud! ❤️🤍💙 (For those wondering, we finally made it to Bangor around 11:45am this morning after two more delays. 13.5 hours later than scheduled. 😅)

Well, we had smooth traveling from Atlanta to DC and DC to Bangor, right up until we tried to land. Weather in Bangor was not conducive for us to touch down, so we were diverted to Boston. Hoping for an on-time 8am flight to Bangor after staying in Logan Airport all night. 🤞

Silver for Tyler!!!!!🥈 Woo hoo! 👏

We put our escape room skills to the test today. 🕵️🕵️♀️🕵️♂️

Our competitions are complete! Every single one of our kids left everything in their competition area and we could not be more proud! 🥹 Now we wait!

Another early morning for our kids. Matt and Brendan have reported to Electrical and Plumbing, Grayson and Tim are ready to start the Digital Cinema viewing session, and Tyler is waiting to enter the collision repair competition area.

Our crew took a break this evening to explore the Georgia Aquarium, and it did not disappoint! 🦈 🐬🐠🦑🐢🐊

What a day! All of our students have been putting in the WORK! 💪

Ben's call time for Extemporaneous Speaking prelims was 10:45am. He entered the prep room to an unknown topic and had 5 minutes to plan out a 3-5 minute speech. The question the judges posed was difficult, but Ben held his own. The immediate feedback was that his speech was authentic, a great thing to hear! He too will await today's results to determine whether he competes in finals tomorrow. Yay Ben!

This morning Tyler had to report for his interview portion on his competition. He will go back this afternoon for familiarization, where they will walk around the competition area and get a peak at what they will be working on tomorrow.

Kevin has reported for his Prepared Speech preliminary. We are waiting for him to be called in. He will also have to wait for today's results to determine if he competes in the finals tomorrow.

Jasmine's Preliminary Job Interview was scheduled for 9:15am. She totally rocked it! Now we wait for the preliminary results to see if she gets a call back for finals. Great job Jasmine!

Grayson and Tim reported to their onsite activity at 9:00am. They will be working on a surprise project to accompany the film that they submitted ahead of the conference. Go digital cinema!

Lucien and Rivlin also had to report to their competition area for 8:30. They'll spend the morning setting up and being interviewed. After lunch they will have their game judged. Go team!

Matt's call time was 8:30am. After being escorted to the competition area, competitors were given the plans for the day and time to make calculations for the conduit bending portion. Go Matt!

Brendan is up! 7:30am call time for his Plumbing Competition, and he's front and center. He'll be zoned in until 4:15pm. Go Brendan!

Opening Ceremony is underway! Look at this skilled crew! ❤️🤍💙

Today was a busy day of orientations, student sessions, and exploring the convention center! We have our bearings and we are ready to start competitions tomorrow. 🇺🇸
